PAC Minutes for October 13th, 2009


In attendance: Jan Rose (chair), Todd McClintic (co-chair), Julie Lavigne (secretary) and Jennifer Kuzbek (treasurer), Brook Cote, Emma Harris, Barb ? and Lisa Rankin

  • Jennifer made a motion to approve minutes, Julie seconded and the minutes were approved.
  • Derek Blanton from the Karate program presented Jennifer with a check for $150.
    • we have 2 students from Ute Pass Elementary joining us this year ◦    the scholarship program now available gives 1/2 price tuition for karate students in need, once they are accepted it continues for the rest of the year
    • we were all invited to attend the next belt test ◦    there will be a graduation program for kindergartners in January to promote them to the older class and then there will no longer be a separate kindergarten karate program.
  • Treasure's report
    • $11,000 in the bank, but we must always keep a balance of at least $5,000 to purchase grocery certificates.
    • we have 8 pledges for monthly grocery certificates which equals $55/ month straight to the PAC fund.
    • from 7/1/2009- 9/25/2009 there has been $15,900 purchased in grocery certificates.
    • There was a discussion about the ease and difficulty of the re-loadable King sooper cards.
    • New flyer idea that states if x number of families purchased y amount of $$ then the school would get $_____. Jennifer offered to use that for the next flyer.
  • Halloween
    • Looked over volunteer list for the carnival
    • Discussed getting help from Mark Brost and Mr. Vogel more involved with
      helping gain enthusiasm with the staff, discussed a possible raffle for the
      teachers that made an appearance at the carnival.
    • Decided on ticket prices: 3 tickets for $1 and omit the admission fee.
    • Barb offered to get started on pre-making bundles.
    • New booth suggestion: 'The Jail' Todd McClintic offered to take this task on.
    • The haunted house needed some money from the PAC for purchases.
    • Julie volunteered to call Coca-Cola for donations
    • Lisa Rankin volunteered to organize a silent auction.
    • The face painter booth will be open from 5:30-7:30.
    • Volunteers to show up at 4:30 and pizza to be delivered at 4:30 to feed
      those volunteers.
    • Laurie Wood offered to head up the volunteers from the M.S. and the H.S.
  • Destination Imagination: Brook Cote offered to look at the information as a possibility for next year.
